Gir Safari – Important Points
Gir National Park jeep safari permits are limited and must be booked in advance through the official Gujarat forest department portal — last-minute bookings are rarely available during peak season
Safari timings are fixed: early morning (6:00 AM – 9:00 AM) and afternoon (3:00 PM – 6:00 PM) — punctuality is essential as latecomers are not allowed entry
Do not wear bright coloured clothing (red, yellow, white) on safari — earthy tones like khaki, olive green, and brown are recommended
Maintain complete silence inside the forest zone — do not shout, play music, or make loud noises
Strictly follow the naturalist guide's instructions at all times — exiting the jeep inside the park is strictly prohibited
Wildlife sightings are never guaranteed — the Gir forest is a natural habitat, not a zoo
Bet Dwarka Island
The ferry to Bet Dwarka operates from Okha Jetty — timings depend on weather and tidal conditions, so flexibility in schedule is important

In the evening, you can visit the nearby Sabarmati Ashram (if time permits) or take a stroll along the Sabarmati Riverfront. Overnight stay in Ahmedabad.
Day 2: Ahmedabad – Sasangir (360 km)
After an early breakfast, embark on a scenic drive to Sasangir, home to the world-famous Gir National Park. The journey takes you through rural Gujarat, showcasing villages, agricultural landscapes, and the region's distinctive culture. Upon arrival, check into your hotel/resort near the sanctuary. In the afternoon, visit the Gir Interpretation Zone (Devaliya) for a guaranteed wildlife viewing experience. Day 3: Sasangir – Somnath (60 km)
Early morning, experience an exhilarating Gir Forest Safari (subject to permit availability). Enter the core area of Gir National Park in an open jeep, tracking the majestic Asiatic lions alongside experienced naturalists. Besides lions, you might spot marsh crocodiles, four-horned antelopes, wild boars, and over 300 bird species. After the safari, return to the hotel for breakfast and check out. Drive to Somnath, the eternal shrine. Visit the magnificent Somnath Temple, one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. This temple has been destroyed and rebuilt multiple times, symbolizing eternal faith. Witness the temple's stunning architecture against the Arabian Sea backdrop. Day 4: Somnath – Porbandar – Dwarka (250 km / 5 hours)
Morning visit to Triveni Sangam, where three rivers meet the sea, and Bhalka Tirth, believed to be the place where Lord Krishna was struck by an arrow. After breakfast, drive to Porbandar, the birthplace of Mahatma Gandhi. Visit Kirti Mandir (Gandhi's ancestral home), Sudama Temple, and the seaside area. Continue your journey to Dwarka, one of Hinduism's seven most sacred cities (Sapta Puri). Arrive by evening and visit Dwarkadheesh Temple for evening aarti. Day 5: Dwarka – Bet Dwarka – Nageshwar – Dwarka
Early morning, attend the Mangla Aarti at Dwarkadheesh Temple, a spiritually uplifting experience. After breakfast, take a ferry/boat ride to Bet Dwarka (also called Shankhodhar), an island 30 km from Dwarka. According to legend, this was Lord Krishna's original residence. Visit the ancient temple and explore the island's serene beaches. Return to mainland Dwarka and visit Nageshwar Jyotirlinga Temple, one of the 12 sacred Shiva shrines. The temple features a 25-meter-high Lord Shiva statue. Also visit Gopi Talav, Rukmini Devi Temple (5 km from Dwarka), dedicated to Krishna's consort, featuring exquisite carvings. Return to Dwarka for overnight stay.
Day 6: Dwarka – Jamnagar – Ahmedabad (450 km / 8 hours)
After breakfast, check out and drive to Ahmedabad via Jamnagar. Stop at Jamnagar, known as the "Jewel of Kathiawar." Visit Lakhota Lake and Museum, housed in a fort-palace showcasing artifacts and sculptures.
