Itinerary
Begin your journey in Varanasi, one of the oldest continuously
inhabited cities in the world and the spiritual heart of India. After
arriving and checking into your hotel, spend your afternoon visiting the
sacred Kashi Vishwanath Temple, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas
dedicated to Lord Shiva. Wander through the maze-like alleys of the old
city, soaking in the essence of ancient India.
As evening falls, head to Dashashwamedh Ghat to witness the
spectacular Ganga Aarti, a spiritual ritual performed with lamps and
chants on the banks of the Ganges. The rhythmic sound of bells and
mantras creates an unforgettable experience.
Optional: Take a short boat ride on the Ganga at sunset for a serene
view of the ghats.
In the morning, take an excursion to Sarnath, where Lord Buddha
delivered his first sermon after attaining enlightenment. Visit the
Dhamek Stupa, Ashokan Pillar, Mulagandha Kuti Vihar, and the
Sarnath Archaeological Museum, which houses ancient relics, including
the Lion Capital of Ashoka.
Return to Varanasi in the afternoon and explore the Bharat Kala
Bhavan Museum inside Banaras Hindu University (BHU), which
displays rare manuscripts, paintings, and sculptures.
In the evening, enjoy a relaxed walk along Assi Ghat, and sample some
authentic Banarasi street food like kachori sabzi, tamatar chaat, and
famous lassi.
After breakfast, embark on a scenic drive (approx. 2.5 hours) to
Prayagraj, formerly known as Allahabad. Upon arrival, head to the
sacred Triveni Sangam, the confluence of three rivers: Ganga, Yamuna,
and the mythical Saraswati. A boat ride here is considered highly
auspicious. Famous temple of lord Hanuman(Lete Hanuman).
Later, explore the Allahabad Fort (only outer access due to military
control), built by Emperor Akbar. Visit Anand Bhavan, the ancestral
home of the Nehru-Gandhi family, and the beautifully landscaped
Khusro Bagh, a Mughal-era garden with sandstone tombs.
Rest overnight in Prayagraj.
Depart in the morning for Ayodhya (approx. 4 hours), a city deeply
associated with the life of Lord Rama. Upon reaching, visit the newly
built Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple, a site of major religious
importance.
Also explore Hanuman Garhi, a fortress-like temple dedicated to Lord
Hanuman, and Kanak Bhawan, a beautiful temple believed to be a gift
to Sita by Kaikeyi. In the evening, attend the Saryu River Aarti, and
enjoy a peaceful walk along Ram ki Paidi, a series of ghats lit with
lamps and echoing with bhajans.
Overnight stay in Ayodhya.
Travel to Lucknow (around 3.5 hours), the capital city known for its
elegance, etiquette, and delectable cuisine. Begin your exploration with
the magnificent Bara Imambara, an architectural marvel built without
any beams. Don’t miss the Bhool Bhulaiya (maze) inside.
Next, visit the intricate Chota Imambara, and the grand Rumi Darwaza,
a 60-feet high gate that showcases Awadhi architecture. In the evening,
head to Hazratganj, a vibrant colonial-era market, where you can shop
for Chikankari garments and taste the famous Tunday Kabab and
Lucknowi Biryani.
Stay overnight in Lucknow.
After breakfast, head to Agra (approx. 5 hours drive). On arrival, visit
the Taj Mahal, a symbol of eternal love and one of the Seven Wonders
of the World. Admire its white marble beauty and the story of Shah
Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal that it embodies.
Later, explore the mighty Agra Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that
served as the seat of the Mughal Empire. End the day at Mehtab Bagh,
a riverside garden offering a serene sunset view of the Taj from across
the Yamuna.Overnight stay in Agra.
On the final day, travel to Mathura and Vrindavan (approx. 1.5 hours
from Agra), the twin towns associated with the birth and youthful leelas
(divine plays) of Lord Krishna. In Mathura, visit the Shri Krishna
Janmabhoomi temple complex and nearby museums.
Then proceed to Vrindavan, where you can visit the famous Banke
Bihari Temple, ISKCON Temple, and the beautiful Prem Mandir. The
atmosphere is filled with devotion and celebration of Krishna’s divine
love.
After your visit, return to Agra or continue onward to Delhi for your
departure.
